What would you think if we told you there was a restaurant at Walt Disney World that could take you back in time? You would probably think we are out of our minds. Well… that may be the case as us cast members have wild imaginations, but we are not making this up! 50’s Prime Time Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios takes our guests back in time to the 1950s while they enjoy a home-cooked meal. 50’s Prime Time Café is a family affair filled with nostalgia and meals cooked straight from the heart.
Family Affair
When we say a family affair, we mean these words quite literally. The café is decorated with booths, black and white televisions, and cabinets like many dining rooms were during the 1950s. Our aunts and uncles (we dare to call them servers) act straight out of a ‘50s television program. They are constantly checking on their cousins (guests) to ensure they are eating their vegetables, have their elbows off the table, and are not using their walkie-talkies (smart devices) at the table. This treatment by our servers evokes a sense of nostalgia, especially for our older diners as it reminds them of meal time while growing up.
Home-Cooked Meals
Our menu is filled with many classic American comfort meals. From “Mom’s Old-Fashioned Pot Roast” to “Grandma’s Macaroni & Cheese,” every member of the family is sure to find something to suit their palate. Remember, if you don’t finish your vegetables, you won’t be able to try one of our signature desserts including the “Traditional Warm Apple Crisp” or “Dad’s Favorite Chocolate-Peanut Butter cake À la Mode.”
Our guests visit 50s Prime Time Café time and time again because it really does transport one back to a simpler time. Not only do our older guests love the nostalgic feelings that reappear while dining here, but many children enjoy dining at the establishment because it provides them with a look into what life was like for some of their relatives only a few decades ago.
